Loving this 2019 version of the 8000. I used to own a MU8000 and I’m loving the new features and performance of the RU8000. In my bedroom, I also have a 55″ Q8FN and It’s phenominal. Right now, I’m using a M360 soundbar from a few years ago and due for an upgrade!! Please and Thank you!!!

Great TV with a few minor hiccups
The TV’s screen is gorgeous. The voice control works fine, you press a button on the remote and speak a command.
I synced up the TV with my Google smart home hub, so I can turn the TV on and off by telling my smart speaker or phone to turn it on/off. Unfortunately, sometimes I am unable to turn on the TV with the feature, it just randomly doesn’t work, so I have to find the remote.
The remote is a little barebones, my only complaint is that the volume channel controls are little rocker buttons, I would have preferred discreet (+) and (-) buttons. I do very much appreciate that the remote has dedicated buttons to start Netflix, Amazon Video, and Hulu smart TV apps.
After you plug in a new HDMI input, the TV goes through a phase where it attempts to recognize the device, and then it assigns it a label on the inputs menu and depending on the device, the remote may be able to control the thing you connected. This usually works fine, though you cannot cancel the recognition process if you plug in a device, so if you are plugging and unplugging things, you can’t skip the process, which is annoying.
The motion smoothing(auto motion plus) is on by default. Every single TV review website tells you to turn this feature off immediately. If you leave it on, the picture will jitter/lag at certain times and may cause you to think your TV is broken.
All that being said, it’s still a great TV for the price, and I would recommend it if you want a big 4k TV. Games and blurays look great.

Easy to set up
I read that others had issues with setting it all up but I followed the directions and had no problem. Bluetooth is one of the features that helped me choose this model and had no problem setting up my bluetooth speaker but after paring my hearing aids they would not connect for some reason. My only real complaint is that my Wii cannot plugin because there are no RCA input sockets. Samsung no longer sells a converter cable that I need.
Almost forgot, I love the Bixby voice remote. It usually understands everything I try to tell it somehow!

We recently renovated our home and decided to get a 65” tv in the den. I had to convince my wife that the tv was essential for “basic” entertainment. Since it was wall mounted, that tv is the hardest working appliance in the house. My wife watches it day & night. When l have a chance to watch it’s always special. The colors are so vibrant it always looks good. I sometimes sit with my granddaughter and watch cartoons ( l never get tired of seeing all the beautiful colors) The smart remote makes it very easy going from aps to live tv. Audio return doesn’t work properly.

We purchased our Samsung 65 inch Smart 4K UHD TV this past January after shopping 65 inch models for about a year. The Samsung features we were looking for aligned with the 4K technology and the pricing and, as they say, “the rest was history.” We’re very pleased with our choice. The distance from the couch to the TV delivers a true home entertainment experience. We think it’s just as good as going to a Movie Theater (if not better). The one feature the Samsung RU8000 has that changed our lives is BlueTooth. Our home has an ‘open’ floor plan. Which means when the TV is on it can be heard all over the house. But, with the Samsung’s BlueTooth and Apple AirPods – one can watch and listen to the TV without interfering with everyone else’s activities. Thank You Samsung! Over the years we have purchased three other Samsung TVs (a 28 inch, a 32 inch and a 55 inch) which have been working brilliantly. In summary – six months after purchasing our 65 inch Smart 4K UHD TV we’re still looking at each other and saying, “I love this TV!”

Great TV for multiple uses at a great price
I did some research on the type of TV I wanted in order to get the best of regular TV and movie viewing (smart TV features and good adaptable picture quality), but also to be able to handle multiple game consoles as well (crisp pictures, good refresh rate, great contrast).
This TV does both very well and within a budget. I was also pleasantly surprised that the TV comes with a special HDMI port that allows your TV remote to control a device hooked to that port, so that was a plus.
The remote is a small form factor and simplistic in design (which is a good thing) and has the option to voice control your TV and inputs into various text fields.
Overall, for the price, this system performs wonderfully with various input sources and has a great picture quality with no smearing or tearing.

This is the main living room TV. It helped me replace set-top boxes @$50/month. We now stream all content using existing Netflix and Amazon accounts. We added YouTube TV for local channels.
At the same time we upgraded the Internet feed from ISDN to fiber. What a difference! And half the price ;).
This TV has everything I need and more. All smart TV apps I use are already there. One of the features I like is the ability to re-arrange the app icons. It’s a small thing, but shows the thoughtful design.
We use WiFi for the streaming content. The Samsung-6 in the master is on CAT6 with no perceptible difference in quality.

Great features and great look
I love the fact that regardless of what device you are using you can connect it to the TV, Apple or Android it does not matter. Also, by default you get on it all of the major providers (Prime Video, Netflix, Google play Movies and tv, Apple TV…) all you need is a subscription and ur up and running. the Image is great, my kids uses Nvidia Shield to play on it and they love it. Even that the price is a bit high, it is still recommended.

A problem exists (for me, anyway) in activating an app from a streaming TV service. I am unable to do so. The Samsung RU8000 is a very good 4k TV with good picture quality. With the price point its really a great product to have at your home. It delivers deep uniform blacks in a dark room, but lacks a local dimming feature to further improve dark room performance. It has good SDR peak brightness and good reflection handling. The TV has a wide color gamut, but HDR peak brightness is only mediocre, so it can’t display small highlights as they should be. The overall gray uniformity is good with just minimal dirty screen effect, but the viewing angles are not that great and you have to sit straight in front to enjoy an accurate image. Motion handling is excellent with a fast response time that helps display crisp motion with minimal blur trail. The input lag is very low, and the TV supports FreeSync variable refresh rate technology to please gamers.

A Terrific Value
Was going to purchase a Sony X950G UHD until I saw this TV for $800 less. I think the Sony’s color are rated more true but this TV for the price is simply unbeatable. Great picture. Has all the smart TV apps. Set-up was a snap and even paired my Xfinity remote automatically, I didn’t have to do a thing! My biggest concern before purchasing any UHD set was the blurring that I’ve seen on some sets. Not to worry with this baby! Unfortunately, although this device supposedly supports Apple AirPlay, there is scant mention anywhere from Samsung either online or within it’s own product manual on how to connect my iPhone to stream via this TV.

I had been putting off buying a new 4K UHD TV for for some tine, I was just waiting for the right on and I think I found it with the 8000 series. After an easy setup, I was blown away with the display, the quickness of the menu and the additional settings for the display. I absolutely love the remote, from the slim design and the simple yet perfect button layout. First thing I had to do was play a 4K movie and went with Kingsman: The Golden Circle and that opening action sequence blew me away, the colors were vivid and it all seemed so smooth with no blurriness. One thing I made sure to look into before buying was the backlight bleed. I seem to get a little around the edges but its not that worrisome as I have seem in some other models. I may have to tweak something in the settings but overall it doesn’t bother me that much. I also enjoy the ease of switching to different inputs using the home button. After plugging in an HDMI device, it also recognizes the device and makes it simpler to identify in the input. It also has HDMI arc which makes using my Samsung soundbar that much easier when turning on the TV also turns on the soundbar. I just enjoy everything about this 4K TV and am extremely happy I waited this long for the perfect one.

I got this TV to facilitate my PS4
It’s a good value for the size. How ever there is an issue with the sound bar integration through the ARC Output I suppose. Crazy thing is is the Soundbar is a Samsung sambar so you wouldn’t think there is an issue. However that is not the case the Soundbar will remain on will remain consistent with the signal it receives but the TV speakers pulled intermittently turn on without any reason. Even when I change it in the settings still goes back to playing on the TV while the sound bar going it definitely makes for a very annoying experience. The TV it replaced was also a Samsung that never once had that issue

1. There’s no remote support for Nvidia Shield TV (but plenty of support for unpopular android TV devices). You can still watch it by flipping inputs and using a separate remote.
2. Comcast Xfinity remote support is clunky but manageable.
3. I could handle those first two complaints but the fact the WiFi connection doesnt consistently work is a deal breaker for me. I’ve reached out to support and they are pretty useless. Forums have showed hundreds of complaints about their wifi connectivity issues but Samsung has done nothing to solve them in 2 years.

I do love the tv, but for what I paid for this tv,it should work flawlessly. It’s also worth noting that the soundbar with which the tv is glitching happens to also be a samsung. I never had this problem with my other Samsung tv, which was the exact same model only curved. Furthermore, I procured the curved variant, thus the superior version, and I only paid $700 as opposed to the $1200 I paid for this. And in case you are wondering , I only replaced my tv because it got smashed.

We do enjoy the television. I was a little disappointed that it didn’t have RCA hook-ups for my LaserDisc player, but I do understand that LaserDisc is pretty antiquated. An inexpensive converter solved that problem. Overall picture is sharp and sound is adequate. I use a seperate system for movie sound.

The picture quality is excellent and the sound is great. I like the fact the you can twik the sound via the equalizer controls within the tv. It was so easy to program my Netflix app, my Youtube app and my DirecTV app. If you have playstation or xbox your jaw will drop with the unbelievable clarity and sharpness with how the game shows on the screen. First let me say the picture looks GREAT in 4K. I didn’t set up the “Bixby voice control”, mainly because I’m paranoid enough without my television listening to all of my conversations. I’ve had this television for about a month and the only flaw I have noticed is that lately the TV shuts itself off and then immediately turns itself back on. Some of you are probably thinking, “There’s times when I turn myself on also” but that’s not what I’m talking about. The television shuts off and then immediately reboots, it only takes about 10 seconds but it has only done this when I’m playing Xbox. 10 seconds is more than enough time to be killed! If I’m not playing Xbox I’m watching something through my Amazon 4K Firestick and I have not had any problems with my Samsung and Amazon not playing well together. So far, overall, I would purchase this again for the same price.

I love the picture quality, but the sound is mediocre. I went to the sound/audio settings of the SMART TV remote and maximized the sound volume/quality, but it is still rather week. My 45 inch Samsung is the same thing. I’ve maximized the sound settings within the smart remote, but do not get much more volume than the factory setting. I do not need a lot of BASS, so that is not an issue here. My old 32″ CRT HD TV had speakers that were much louder. I understand that the slim design may sacrifice sound quality. Otherwise, I love my Samsung big screen TVs!!!

This samsung 65″ tv is the best one i have had in a long time. The picture quality is very impressive. It is crystal clear you almost feel like immersed in whatever program being watched. I can assure you the sound output is perfect. Its a tv you can watch without connecting a sound bar. Best bang for your buck
I bought this tv to replace a smaller Sony 1080p. This was quite a nice upgrade. However, even though I consider myself tech savvy, I thought the learning curve for this tv was a bit long. Setting up a tv is relatively quick and easy. No problem there. The long part, especially if your new to Samsung, is learning the features. I found this was the part of the set-up that took the most time. It took me approximately two weeks of sitting down and finding ways to accomplish certain functions. Not a problem for the tech oriented, but this could be a problem for someone less learned or patient.
Someone at Samsung needs to offer a concise how to video, either available via YouTube, or dvd, with a written guideline. Something more than here’s how you set up your speaker stand, now you’re on your own. Or a written guide, with more specifics on YouTube. The 800 numbers and online support for these things usually suck and are time consuming.
As for the unit itself it’s a great tv, that I’m very happy with. It integrated nicely with my receiver and other components, via the arc HDMI (Yamaha receiver). The center post did present a small problem for my center channel speaker. If the tv was an inch higher and deeper it would have been a home run. The blacks on some scenes are not as spectacular as purported. I could see why they say OLED/QLED is the way to go in that respect. Overall I’m very satisfied with my purchase.

I was in the market for a new mid range priced 4K UHD TV to enhance my viewing entertainment experience. After much review I decided on the Samsung 65 inch 4K UHD model and I could not be happier! This TV had it all, 4K UHD. High resolution and refresh rates, streaming capabilities, WiFi and Bluetooth connect ability, and 4 HDMI ports ( very difficult to find on most brands). I was able to connect my 4K CABLE box, PS4 pro, and XBOX ONE systems in a snap. The picture quality is unsurpassed by any of its competitors. Cable, steaming, BLUERAY, and gaming picture quality is truly amazing and so realistic. So realistic that my Shetland sheltie sheepdog go nuts when she sees another dog on TV. She really thinks the dog is in the living room with her! I have recommended this brand to my friends and my son and after viewing mine they too have purchased the same model. To really start this is has to come down features per dollars and cents for which this TV has it in spades. Very responsive smart TV features and remote, pretty decent sound and did I mention the picture is amazing on 4K and blue ray disc. This TV is not without its cons though. Watching Sports could be better, it gets a little jittery and it definately needs more inputs. Samsung should know a TV in this price range of this caliber needs more but I have no major complaints. Video games rock on this set. Definately glad I didnt buy the over priced Sony Bravia or cheaper Vizio and LG models. Overall this TV would get an A- for the 6 months I have owned this.

Super TV at great price
I was replacing a 10 year old flat panel TV that still functioned well, so I was ambivalent about spending the money to replace it. However, I am very glad I did replace it. This TV not only has super features but is so much clearer than my old TV. When watching sports, I can now follow the puck or golf/tennis ball. Additionally, regular TV shows not in 4K are much clearer.

Trouble with the curve
I have a curved 8500 UHD model. The picture and features are very good. I had an issue with connecting a device, which the instructions did not cover nor did the auto detect detect, thankfully the issue is resolved. Not enough mainstream APPS!!!! Also maybe a keyboard and or mouse should be added as an accessory.
Do not misunderstand , the technology offered in this product is great, but there seems to be more it can do.

This television has great uniformity something that I’m very picky about gray scales are great. No dirty screen effect with fast action the 120hz is fantastic. Sdr content looks great and so does upscaled content. HDR effect is ok this unit doesn’t have the highest peak brightness. Bezel on tv are bigger compared to the last few years but the prices have also come way down. To end great tv at the price point truly punches above its weight class.

Bought this TV in March. I really like it. After unpacking we read the installation instructions and had it up an running in under 10 minutes. Set up was then a breeze. It connected to the home WiFi with no issues downloaded the latest drivers and away we went. I really like all the customization you can do for the picture. It even lets you do different setups by source. Playing a Console system no problem, Blue Ray player got you covered. Picture quality is very good. Blacks are black not grey, color bright and full. Inputs are perfect with my needs. The TV has a ton of customization Smart Apps like HULU, Netflix, and more then I can count right now. Switching between them and the TV is a breeze. One thing I would like is maybe make the feet just a bit taller. The newer sound bars on the market are a bit taller then in the past. If you are not doing a wall mount like myself the bar comes up about a quarter inch or so on the TV. Small issue for a great TV. I highly recommend

Not terrific but still a big upgrade
I like the size and the picture quality/color. I had some issues with it turning on my Xbox when I try to shut everything down as well as freezing when I switch between the smart apps. It pairs well with my Samsung sound bar and it is pretty easy to use. Setup was fairly simple and easy enough for me to do by myself. I like Samsung products, but sometimes the price can be a little higher than what it should be. I usually can’t justify them unless there is a sale going on. I’m happy with the one that I purchased, but it isn’t a perfect product. It has a couple issues that I wouldn’t have expected for it being such a new TV. Hopefully someone reads this and looks into the freezing issue or sends me some advice on how to set it up so that it doesn’t turn on everything plugged into it when I want to shut it down.

Great picture, love the smart features
Have had a Samsung 55 inch TV for 8 or 9 years and loved the picture. Have been looking and and debating about getting a Smart version for several years. I read a ton of reviews and looked up all the features and what each meant to help me decide which model to go with. Since the prices had come down so much I didn’t have an issue upgrading to a 65 inch and decided to go with the 8 series because it had the 240 Motion Rate and the all the integrated apps I was looking for. Love the SmartThings app that connects it to our new refrigerator (with smart hub) and my phone. Haven’t been able to get the refrigerator’s hub to turn the TV off and on by voice control yet but hopefully that will get fixed with a software upgrade at some point. The only issue I have had with this TV is the lack of options for Apps. Can’t get the AMC app and you can’t delete some of the recommended apps in the menu that I don’t use. Netflix loads super fast compared to my Roku. It does hang up every once in a while but if you go to the Settings and TV Device Manager and clear the RAM it fixes the issue. Got that tip from the setup screen. I enjoyed the smart functions on this one so much that I went and got a 7 series for my bedroom. I opted for the older model because of price. I like the remote a little better on the 8 series once I got used to it but love both TVs.

I have one of each (series 7 and 8) I love the features of the 8, but after owning both I don’t think the 8 has the same value the 7 offers. The 8 has great cable management and the remote is cool but not worth the extra cost compared. Both great TV’s that I enjoy…. Go with the 7 though.

The screen size for us is perfect as we are in our late seventies, Motion rate great for our viewing, easy to use menu, as we are older we must have volume up as all channels sound differs, styling is great, and fits perfectly on our stand. I must say this 8 Series is really good in image quality when watching 4K. The upscaling from HD tu UHD could be improved on the +65”. The refresh rate does a very good job making scenes look smoother with no lagging. The out-of-the-box sound quality is awesome.
One of the things I regret is the WiFi connectivity. It keeps dropping or not even connect with my router. I will try to figure out later or call Samsung support. I have it wire connected and is working Ok.

Overall experience is good. Picture not quite as sharp as on previous Samsung 55 inch screen but I’m guessing that is due to same number of pixels on the larger screen. The small remote control takes a little getting used to because of the lack of a number keypad. My wife likes the remote because it allows for voice control.

Awesome Picture Quality
This is my 1st Samsung smart TV, before buying it, I did lots shopping around, was debating between QLED and OLED or just plan UHD LED TV. Obviously price is a big factor and since the technology keeps changing so does price, I decided to go with LED especially after seeing this TV @ Costco display.
It was side by side with Samssung QLED and LG OLED, I got to say that both QLED and OLED really looks nice but this TV picture quality is not bad compare to it, at least to me, it looks decent and I went with it.
setup was fairly easy, took a while to get used to the remote . I was really happy how smooth and fast it stream Netflix and other streaming services through Wifi . it was painless to setup my Fios TV box and adnroid TV box, I was surprised that remote control is able to control all the devices that TV recognizes…The only thing I still can’t figure it out is the sound, same volume setting but different device can have big different in volume, if I switch between devices, I need to adjust volume, pain in the butt but I can live with.

But the most important part, the picture, even after several adjustments are just OK in my opinion. I actually have another TV the same size but from another brand of course that is considered a step down compared to this one and I actually like the picture on that one better . The benefits of free sync and hi refresh rates are a plus.

Must use a high speed HDMI cable
Unit replaced a non-4K (2K) Samsung 60″. While using the same 2.0 HDMI, I was having a series of highly distracting motion artifacts. Played with all combinations on the menu available to modify blur and judder, up and into the annoying “soap opera effect”, which I can’t stand.
Tried other 2.0 HDMI branded cables I also own – nothing got better. Imagine a person swinging his/her hand at about a 120 degree arch in just three frames… imagine an actor running from one side of the screen and suddenly he is two frames ahead of himself.
Best Buy staff was incredulous, just couldn’t explain it. Called Comcast and reviewed bandwidth reaching my house cable boxes – all was fine. Just as I was to return my favorite TV brand back to Best Buy – I own several Samsungs – decided to buy a 22.8Gbps HDMI cable and LOW and BEHOLD, all motion artifacts where solved!!!
Blur and judder settings are off and the TV just looks great (in Dynamic Mode).
Highly recommended at this price point with a high speed HDMI cable. You will be very satisfied. Recommended!
PS: Very good and bright colors, contrast and sharp images, given the source resolution quality. Some channels transmit in such high quality recorded material (recall everything is still transmitted in 1080p), the image will knock you out!

Good mid range Premium UHD TV
Bought the RU8000 65″ about 3 weeks ago and so far it is a good performing TV. I rated the performance at 4 stars instead of 5 due to the 2018 NU series being a brighter overall SDR and HDR experience and the style at 2 stars mainly due to the chunky thick frame. If you can look past the not so premium design cues the TV performs well overall and has nice saturated colors that in my opinion rival the QLED Q6fn of 2018. Very sharp picture and Samsung has always had a very high performing upscaling processor and the Premium RU series is no exception. 1080p content looks extremely sharp when upscaled. 4k Blu rays look very nice as well and video gaming on the Xbox One X is exceptional (one of the main reasons I chose the RU 8000 series) with the 120hz panel and the built in FreeSync setting to allow better frame rates. I haven’t tried variable refresh rate yet in 1440p but I will soon. HDR works nicely in game mode (depending on the developer of the game) but Black Ops 4 looks good and Battlefield V looks absolutely stunning in HDR even with Game Mode switched on. Another nice feature is that Game Mode can be set to switch on automatically. I highly recommend this TV. Can you buy less expensive TVs with somewhat similar performance? Yes you can but not with the feature set the RU8000 has.

Learning something new everyday
I have learned how to navigate between my cable in my Netflix and my Amazon is Really great.I have also learn how to connect my laptop and my phone and my tablets to it so now can view my pictures and video at Parties in other gatherings. Also my screen is flawless no matter what level of light is in the living room I always have a clear picture. I am still working on using the voice command but this is a Really great TV

This TV is amazing to say the least. While the remote is kinda plain the TV has lots of features. Having Netflix and Hulu buttons are very operator friendly. Picture quality is great and the sound is even better. This TV basically set itself up once I hooked up the rest of my other electronics. Samsung is still the leader in electronics.

This is an amazing TV with great features. Very easy to install. I like that I only have to use one remote for all my apps or all of my streaming Content. The Colors look great Sports channels look great. The only drawback I can think of I wish I had more apps available in their app store. I recently purchased Samsung’s SmartTv and have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the picture and simplicity of the operating system. The initial set up took about 3 minutes, which was quicker than I expected. It is easy to download apps and navigate the tv. I am a huge fan of the Samsung TVs and also like that they are compatible with most cable provider’s applications.

The TV itself is excellent from a hardware perspective. However the device settings and menus are terrible, as is the supposed Smart Hub feature, which will drive you crazy. I don’t want Samsung TV Plus. I don’t want to see it, I don’t want to hear it, I don’t want anything to do with it…And yet is front and center, in the way constantly, and I can’t get rid of it. Whoever chose to force that on us should be shot at dawn…Truly horrible software.

Why So Dark?
I am reviewing the RU8000 as a comparison between this model and last years NU8000. I purchased an NU8000 in December and by May it had a warranty issue that required an exchange. The NU8000 was very bright, had great sound, very clean and thin look, synced with Xbox one x seamlessly. I was told the panel couldn’t be replaced so they would replace it with the 2019 model. Great, same tv and a year newer. The NU8000 (2018) was replaced by the new RU8000 (2019).
The RU8000 has a nice, smooth picture with deep and strong colors. That’s about all it has in common to last years model. The three biggest difference’s I have noticed.
– The sound is not strong or deep like last years model. The RU8000 has 2 channels with 20w total. The NU8000 had 2.1 channels with 40w.
– No local dimming unlike last years model. On a side lit tv local dimming is not as affective, but why get rid of it? It still helps with dark tones in dark rooms.
– After chatting with Samsung support I got confirmation that the peak HDR brightness on the RU8000 is MUCH LESS than the NU8000. This is my biggest issue. I have an Xbox One X connected to the tv. When I go to configure the picture, using the Xbox configure tool, I can’t get past the brightness screen because the tv can’t put out enough light. I have messed with all of the picture settings and turned on and off the game enhancer, vrr, and game dynamic darkness. The only way to get the screen bright enough, to get it configured, is to take it out of HDR. Why would I have an HDR tv if it can’t put out enough light to function in HDR? This has made it almost unbearable to play games on this TV. Even watching tv, any outdoor scene feels like it’s overcast when it’s supposed to be bright and sunny. Samsung needs to figure out how to get more out of the LED’s to get the HDR functioning correctly.
The RU8000 was described to me as an equivalent replacement for my NU8000. Why wouldn’t it be? it’s the same series. The RU8000 is cheaper than the NU8000 brand new, and it is not equivalent. This maybe a great TV if you don’t have any expectations. However, I feel like this TV fell far short of where it should be and what I paid for with the NU8000. I will not be returning to Samsung for any further tv or electronic purchases if this is what a warranty replacement truly is. I would rather hav the NU8000 back.

I had a old 55 inch Toshiba for 15 years, and decided to update finally this year, the difference is huge, dark contrast is excellect, I can see a lot more detail in the shows such as Game of thrones, also the internal speaker is loud enough, I don’t need to always turnon my sound bar, all in all very happy with the purchase.

I brought the 65″ the tv is very small in person, looks more like a 50″ They should not even make a 65″ version if it is going to look the size of a 50-55″ picture is ok, but on the sports channels the color looks extremely funny. It was easy to get setup initially wish I had went with different model bigger screen I have only had this TV one week and already have regrets of purchase I really want to ship this make cant believe how small it is.
